Richard Benyon MP is to chair a public meeting at Newbury Town Hall, on 8 October from 18:00 – 19:30,alongside the All2gether (West Berkshire Minority Ethnic Forum), to promote greater cultural understanding amongst communities in West Berkshire.
Following Richard’s previous public meeting concerning the crisis in Gaza, members of the audience raised issues of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia on the streets of Britain and a spoke of the importance in improving relations between communities, here at home.
Richard said: “Following positive feedback from the last public meeting and the clear appetite from our community to debate the issues of the day, it is right and important that local people meet to discuss the matters they care about the most.”
He continued: “The last thing any of us want is for particular individuals, or groups, to feel isolated from the rest of society. I have lived in West Berkshire all my life and our community has always been welcoming to all peoples from all parts of our world.”
There is no need to RSVP, although a great deal of interest has already been expressed so an early arrival is essential to avoid disappointment.
Notes:
Following previously successful open surgeries in Newbury and Thatcham, Richard will be hosting the following for constituents, who wish to make their views known or may require help with a particular issue(s).
