Richard Benyon has taken an interest in health issues surrounding kidney disease and transplants and is an active member of the All Party Group, which saw him elected Vice Chair at last week’s AGM.
Richard said: “I got involved with this issue on entering Parliament out of affection and respect for one of my predecessors as MP for Newbury, Michael McNair-Wilson. He carried on as our MP despite suffering kidney failure and having dialysis treatment.”
He continued: “Like many, I have friends with kidney disease and want the best possible treatment and research to be carried out. The All Party Group is a good way for MPs and Peers to be kept informed about this issue and how we can improve life chances for kidney disease sufferers.”
