Richard Benyon MP has welcomed £264,820 for West Berkshire to boost support for rough sleepers, helping them into safe accommodation.
Following on from the launch of the Rough Sleeping Strategy last month, the Government has announced provisional allocations of a £34 million fund to provide local support for those living on the streets over the next two years.
This is an extension of the £30 million provided to councils in June of this year and forms part of the Government’s plan to end rough sleeping by 2027.
Richard Benyon said:
“It is excellent news that £264,820 of extra money will be invested in West Berkshire. I am closely involved in West Berkshire’s Homelessness Strategy Group and with efforts by many different organisations to end rough sleeping. This support by the Government is hugely welcome and will be well used to keep many vulnerable people off the streets.”
