Richard Benyon, the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Newbury, has this morning welcomed the announcement that a future Conservative Government will freeze regulated rail fares in real terms for the whole of the next Parliament. Speaking on the doorstep in Aldermaston, Richard said: “The cost of commuting is one of the largest household bills that families in West Berkshire face. I have made numerous representations to the Department for Transport over the course of the previous Parliament, following feedback from many constituents, and I am delighted with this announcement.” He continued: “The freezing of regulated rail fares is only possible because of the difficult economic decisions the Conservatives have taken to repair our economy. I do not want to go back to inflation busting rises – a trademark of a Labour Government.
