The Conservative Government yesterday announced £370 million to extend opening hours, cut queue times and protect rural branches.
This funding brings the total invested in the Post Office network since 2010 to £2 billion, and will secure the future of the network.
Richard has a strong record of opposing Post Office closures in West Berkshire and has therefore welcomed this new funding which, amongst other things, will help to protect village branches and ensure everyone continues to have access to their local branch.
Commenting, Richard said, ‘Our local Post Office branches are at the heart of communities right across West Berkshire.
‘Customers and small businesses rely on their local branch to access a wide range of services.
With this funding we are ensuring that our Post Offices are fit for the future. ‘For the first time in decades, the Post Office network is stable and the new funding announced today will mean it can continue to improve services for local people.’
