West Berkshire Council Executive Reshuffle
The Leader of West Berkshire Council, Cllr. Gordon Lundie has announced a reshuffle to the Council’s Executive. Cllr. Graham Jones is standing down in order to take up a part time position with the NHS.
Cllr. Lundie commented: “I am very sad to be losing the services of Graham Jones who has been a very long standing member of the Executive but I am delighted that he will continue to work with me to represent the people of the Lambourn Valley. On behalf of West Berkshire Council, I should like to thank him publicly for his many years of service as a front bench member. His skill and expertise will be sorely missed.”
Cllr. Marcus Franks, previously Portfolio Holder for Countryside and the Environment, rejoins the Executive as Portfolio Holder for Health and Well being.
The Safer Communities Partnership transfers to Cllr. Graham Pask’s responsibilities
Cllr. Franks is one of two Ward Members representing residents in Speen Ward. He is employed in the Community Investment Team at Sovereign Housing Association. He is married with two children.
He has represented Speen Ward since 2003, having lived in the ward for over ten years. Working with the Parish Councils and residents, he has worked on many local issues including keeping the footpaths open on the golf course, many planning and housing applications, ensuring the new crossing and road safety improvements at Robert Sandilands School and keeping the 30mph limit by the school.
Cllr. Franks said: “I am delighted to be asked to rejoin the Executive. It is a great honour and I am look forward to advancing the Health and Well Being Agenda.”
Cllr. Gordon Lundie remarked: “It is excellent news that Marcus is now able to rejoin the Executive now that Graham Jones has decided to stand down. He has already had experience of being a Member of the Executive and I have every confidence in his ability to deliver for West Berkshire Council.”
