Richard Benyon, Member of Parliament for Newbury, has welcomed the decline in crime rates in West Berkshire to a record low.
According to the total crime figures for the Thames Valley area, total arrests resulting in charges have dropped by 9% from 2006 to 2015.
In one of his regular meetings with Jim Weems, Area Commander for West Berkshire, Mr Benyon heard that crime in the area had dropped by 5% in the last year.
Mr Benyon said, βIt was a good meeting with Jim Weems, who said that crime rates continued to fall to a record low. It is great to hear the particularly low burglary rate.β
These figures show that West Berkshire is not just one of the safest areas in the UK but the whole of Europe.β
