Following the dissolution of Parliament on Tuesday night and the formal start of the 2017 General Election campaign, Richard Benyon lost no time in getting out and about in the constituency this week.
He was talking to commuters catching the early trains from Newbury station, with other members of his team handing out leaflets at Thatcham and Hungerford stations.
Meanwhile the supply of Vote Richard posters was being given a spring clean ready to be put up across the constituency.
Richard then attended West Berkshire Council’s Newbury Vision conference at the Corn Exchange before going on to join guests at a jubilee celebration mass at Douai Abbey.
He and his team were out knocking on doors in Thatcham in the evening.
Richard commented, ‘It was an encouraging start to be told by two commuters that they were switching allegiance from the Liberal Democrats to the Conservatives because Theresa May is the only leader in this election who is offering the strong and stable leadership that is needed to make a success of the negotiations with the EU.
‘I look forward to meeting as many constituents as possible. Everyone can follow my campaign and find out more about the issues on my website richardbenyon.com and on Twitter and Facebook.’
