By Graham Pask, District Councillor for Bucklebury Ward (Conservative).
We are very fortunate to have the beautiful Bucklebury Common on our doorstep, which is treasured and enjoyed by the whole community.
Sadly, there is a minority who drive 4x4s illegally on the common, churning up the land and causing damage. We’re dealing with it by introducing “Traffic Regulation Orders” (TROs) between the months of October and March. That makes it illegal for anyone with a 4x4 to access this area, and if they do, police have powers to seize the vehicles and fine the owners.
If you’ve walked along the common recently, you may have seen concrete posts or barriers at the entry points — we’ve been putting these in to deter this activity, and I’m pleased to say we are having some success with it.
If you see any 4x4s on Bucklebury Common, please get in touch and report it. We must look after and cherish our natural environment — and we will do everything we can to end this needless vandalism in our community.
