Richard Benyon today launched Newbury Dementia Action Alliance, in Newbury’s Market Square. The event was supported by the Corn Exchange and featured music, puppets and crafts and as extremely well attended.
Following the cutting of the cake, Richard said: “I am delighted to be able to launch Newbury Dementia Action Alliance, today. There are 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK and it costs the UK economy £23 billion a year. I believe that public health initiatives such as the Action Alliance, can, and already are beginning to shape policy”.
Richard continued: “I have been in contact with a number of local businesses calling on them to become dementia friendly and I now call on those who have yet to sign up to do so. This event has been so well attended and I would like to congratulate Sue Butterworth for all the effort she has put in."
