Richard Benyon, Member of Parliament for Newbury, has hosted a reception for Vodafone in the Houses of Parliament to champion their efforts in providing mobile connectivity to rural communities.
Joined by Jeroen Hoencamp (Vodafone UK CEO) and Ed Vaizey (Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy), Richard made the case for increased mobile connectivity and broadband services in West Berkshire.
Richard said: "With its roots in Newbury, Vodafone first piloted this scheme in East Garston, with great success and I am delighted that they have since rolled this out to more communities."
He continued: "For a community of nearly 500 people an improved mobile signal has made a dramatic difference. Safety for rural workers, opportunities for new businesses and the ability for families to keep in touch, are just three examples of the benefits of greater connectivity.”
