Richard Benyon, Member of Parliament for Newbury, has welcomed the announcement of additional funding to support businesses and infrastructure for the Thames Valley, helping to create jobs and support businesses.
Thames Valley Berkshire, the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has been allocated £10.2 million. This is in addition to the £96.9 million of funding committed by the Government in July 2014. Thames Valley Berkshire estimates that up to 20,000 new jobs could be created, 12,000 new homes built and that it has the potential to generate £40 million of public and private investment.
Richard said: “This is fantastic news for our region and is testament to the hard work of the LEP. It is absolutely right that decisions on how money is spent, is being made by local people who are best placed to ensure it makes a difference.”
He continued: “This money will help to ensure the increase in broadband coverage to 95 per cent and will support a new junction and road for the London Road Industrial Estate in Newbury, to support future redevelopment.”
